[Generative AI] Series—#02
The Process
Using Midjourny and some Photoshop I created the following images as inspiration for a futuristic (or, even, future) high fashion apparel brand I’m calling Artifice. I first used the /Blend feature to feed Midjourny core visual elements that I wanted it to iterate on in outputting an initial image of a model wearing, in this case, something futuristic-like. I used inspiration from visionary Avant Gard designers like David La Chapelle and Thierry Mugler. In then remixing those initial outputs, I asked Midjourny to consider the creations of photographer Tim Walker, as well as concepts and aesthetics related to things like futurism, elaborate costume design, high fashion and minimalism. Still a work in progress, these are just a few of the creations I landed on and have presented here as a starting point for eventually further developing this brand concept.

Proof of Concept
Maybe the year is 2036, and humanities taste in fashion reflects the significant extent to which robotics, artificial intelligence and technology has come to play a role in shaping the world, and with that, our individual personas. Maybe clothes themselves have become a form of infrastructure for more completely. weaving mobile technologies into our daily lives. Maybe, even, the lines between sexual orientation have blurred to the extent that the traditional division between men’s and women’s clothing has been all but eliminated.
In any case, what the far-off future holds with regards to fashion, would be hard to predict. I’ve tried not to simply ask AI what that might look like, but to create a vision of it myself (with the help of AI, of course). I do think that at some point in the not so distant future, the extent to which technology will work itself into virtually every aspect of our existence, will have a significant impact on how we dress, and to that end, the world of fashion in general.
